Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka was formerly known as Serendib (from which the word ‘Serendipity’derives) and more recently as ‘Ceylon’.

Shaped like a teardrop and situated just off the southern coast of India this country of diverse beauty has long been known as the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

This country has everything especially in the realm of natural attractions, among them; a myriad of cultural sights, including seven World Heritage sights.  Of course there are many magnificent beaches, with the famed Mirissa Beach regarded as one of the most picturesque on earth and Arugam Bay recognised as an up-and-coming international hot spot, Hikkaduwa Beach and Negombo Beach, north of the bustling capital Colombo, are also gorgeous and extremely popular.

It could be argued however, that the very best of Sri Lanka can be found inland, as idyllic as the coastline is, this is where you find the real Sri Lanka.  Ancient, mystical temples, spectacular waterfalls, vast tea plantations, verdant hills and valley, quaint villages, amazing wildlife (including elephants, leopards and monkeys) and so much more.  Sri Lanka presents visitors with a riot of colour, a potpourri of gorgeous aromas hanging in the air, plus scores of must-see’s such as the remarkable hill town of kandy, the ancient city of Anurandhapura and the simply irresistible Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.  All of this awaits you!
